Yvonne Hansen

April 5, 1936 — February 20, 2020

Rock Springs, WY

Yvonne Lamb Hansen, 83, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on February 20, 2020 in Rock Springs, Wyoming. Yvonne was born on April 5, 1936 in Wellington, Utah to Tom and Wanda Cook. She had two sisters; Connie Reed and Delores (Dallas) Aman and two brothers; Larry (Joannie) Cook and Dean (Susan) Cook.

When she was a child, Yvonne’s family moved to a ranch in Manila, Utah. While living in Manila, she met Bert Lamb. Yvonne married Bert on April 11, 1953. They were together for 41 years before Bert’s passing in 1994. Together they had five children; Gale (Nella Rae) Lamb of Manila, Utah, Gilbert Lamb who passed away at age 3, Alan (Jana) Lamb of Mountain View, Wyoming, Bonnie (Larry) Mullins of Green River, Wyoming, and Yvette (Johnny) Nichols of Lyman, Wyoming.

Over the years, they owned and operated several different ranches, including a dude ranch, where Yvonne did all of the cooking. She enjoyed reading, crocheting, sewing, and running the baler during hay season. For several years, Yvonne worked as a school bus driver. She then worked for the Wasatch-Cache National Forest Service. Later, she worked at the Uinta Senior Citizens Center, where she drove the bus and delivered meals. She loved to teach the seniors to line dance. It was through this job that she met her “dancing cowboy” Wayne Hansen.

Yvonne married Wayne on August 17, 1996. With this marriage, she gained four stepchildren; Jeff Hansen of Mountain View, Wyoming, Cathy (Dan) Hinton of Rock Springs, Wyoming, Doug Hansen of Vernal, Utah, and Linda Hansen of Vernal, Utah.

Yvonne and Wayne loved to dance. During their years together, they traveled all over attending polka festivals and dances. They also loved fishing, camping, and spending time with their grandkids. They enjoyed teaching the grandchildren dances like; the polka, the two-step, and the all-time favorite “chicken dance.” Yvonne was blessed with several grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and had one great-great-grandson.

In 2014, due to health issues, Yvonne and Wayne moved into Deer Trail Assisted Living in Rock Springs, Wyoming. In January of 2016, Wayne passed away, leaving Yvonne alone and broken-hearted. In the remaining years of her life, she enjoyed going on cruises and gambling trips with her family. She loved playing the slot machines and going to the Wind River Casino.
