Wilby Atkinson

Wilby K. Atkinson, 73, of Oakley, passed away peacefully at his home on February 22, 2023 after a short battle with cancer. He was born June 22, 1949, the second of eight children in Coalville, Utah.  Wilby served in the Vietnam War as a tunnel rat because of his size, he was also a cook.  He was a volunteer firefighter for the South Summit Fire Department.  Wilby was the jack of all trades.  He enjoyed working on the ranch in Francis, gardening at home, working with beads and painting.

Wilby is survived by his canine companion, Cookie; sisters, Mary Ann (Mark) Peterson; Lily Maughan; Shirley Nielsen and Heather (Josh) Ferree; brother, Scott (Tammy) Atkinson; sister-in-law LaNette Atkinson; brother-in-law Rick Blair; and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Alfred and Edna Atkinson; brothers Charles Atkinson and Edward Atkinson; sister Marie Blair; brother-in-law Robert Maughan and nephew Raymond Peterson.

Visitation will be held at Crandall Funeral Home on Wednesday, March 1, 2023 from 10:00 am until 12:00 pm, graveside services will follow at the Francis Cemetery at 12:30 pm.  The family has requested casual dress and wishes to thank Canyon Home Care and Hospice for their compassion and care for Wilby.
