Sky Galli

July 7, 1958 — June 27, 2022

Sky Jay Leonard Galli

Our beloved father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend Sky Galli humbly passed away Monday, June 27, 2022.

Sky was born July 7, 1958 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Jay William and Mary Jane Rollo Galli. He grew up in Salt Lake City where he attended Brighton High School.

He was married to the love of his life, Cindy Tracy for 39 years and was blessed with a daughter Carlie Ann (Jens) Frandsen and a son, SkyJay T (Alyssa) Galli, and four grandchildren, Sheridyn Frandsen, Wynter Frandsen, Canyon Galli and Jack Frandsen.

From an early age, Sky was drawn to the mountains of Utah where he spent time fishing, camping, hunting, and most notably, skiing. His first job was in the Oil Exploration industry which later led him to become a commercial helicopter pilot, transporting large oil drilling equipment. With an innovative mind, and ability to solve problems, he became a pioneer in the oil industry when he, his cousin, and a few dear friends developed the PDR-150-D Heliportable Drill Rig.

Sky achieved his dream of living in mountain country, when in 1992, he acquired land on the Provo River in Woodland, Utah. He shared this land with his extended family for years, as a mountain getaway. Later, with the help of his dad and friends, he built the log cabin and family home of his dreams.

Like his mother, Sky had a passion for cooking. Sky was a certified executive chef for over 30 years, owned a small catering company and most recently, a Dickey’s Barbecue Pit franchise in Heber, Utah. He loved the people of the mountain communities he lived and worked in during his life and prioritized his involvement in them, in any capacity he could.

Sky was a lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He saw good in everyone and often made friends everywhere he went. He was optimistic and led a life of service with love and kindness always in his heart. Sky will be remembered and revered by all who knew and loved him. He is preceded in death by both parents; sister Susan Galli Vatsend and a nephew John Christian Lasater. In addition to his immediate family, he is survived by a brother-in-law, Donald Vatsend, two sisters, Sheri Galli Wells (Dan) and Shauna Galli Lasater (Michael) and numerous nieces and nephews who loved him endlessly.
