MOUNTAIN VIEW — Samuel Joseph Whitman, 34, passed away on November 10, 2021.  Sam was born on August 7, 1987 in Statesville North Carolina and was married to Brittney (Kulp), they have one beautiful daughter, Charlotte.

Sam served in the US Army from 2006 to 2015 as a combat infantryman, sniper and recruiter.  Serving  overseas in Germany and completing two tours of duty in Iraq, and one in Afghanistan, Sam was awarded the  Afghanistan Campaign Medal with 2 stars, The Iraq Campaign Medal with 3 stars, the Army Commendation Medal (4th award), The Army Achievement Medal, the Meritorious Unit Commendation, the Valorous Unit Award, the Army Good Conduct Medal (2nd award), the National Defense Service Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the Noncommissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon (2nd award), the Army Service Ribbon, the Overseas Service Ribbon (2nd award), the North Atlantic Treaty Organization Medal, the Combat Infantryman Badge, the Silver Basic Recruiter Badge and the Expert Marksmanship Badge with Rifle Bar.  He was also recognized as “Top Gun” upon graduation from the US Army Sniper School.

Sam was a member of the Mountain View Bridger Valley Fire Department attaining Firefighter 1 status.

He is survived by his wife, Brittney and daughter Charlotte of Mountain View, Wyoming. In-laws Brett and Heidi Kulp of Alexandria, Virginia, and brothers Nickolas, Jakeob and Jackson.
