Robert Lee

August 21, 1931 — July 14, 2021

Evanston

Robert Ralph Lee of Evanston, Wyoming passed away on July 14, 2021, at Family Tree in Morgan with his loving wife and four daughters by his side.  Ralph was born in Evanston on August 21, 1931, to Edmund and Grace Lee.  He graduated from Evanston High School in 1949.

Ralph was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. At the young age of 13 Ralph started working many jobs.  He was a very hardworking guy learning so many skills which he passed on to his daughters, sons in laws on down to his grandchildren. He learned to install wiring to help with remodeling.  He remodeled several homes; then he built the cabin of his dreams.  His cabin was his happy place especially when all his family was there to enjoy and help him finish projects on his land and cabin.  Ralph’s many jobs led him to a career of becoming a Railroad Engineer for the Union Pacific Railroad.  He retired from the railroad after 42 years.  He operated trains from the old steam engines running on coal to the more modern diesel engines.  After retirement he worked for Mt. Fuel for a brief time.

Ralph had many lasting friendships because of his friendly nature and curiosity when talking and learning about their interests and their lives. He had a talent of making people feel comfortable as well as giving great advice.  His family loved his advice and went to him often for his wisdom.

Ralph married the love of his life, Marion Putnam on August 21, 1950, they had four lovely daughters. Seventeen days after their wedding he left with the 141st Tank Battalion to Fort Campbell, Kentucky during the Korean Conflict.  His family has always been so proud of his service.  During his service with the Battalion, he was honored to become a Tank leader which led him to teaching his fellow patriots’ skills to run the tanks.

Ralph is survived by his wife Marion, daughters Linda Kunz (Scott), Brenda Gerrard (Clifford), Roberta “Bobbi” Child (Boyd), Jeana Cooper (Clay); fifteen grandchildren, twenty-seven- and one-half great grandchildren; brother Stuart Lee; four sisters-in-law, two brothers-in-law and many nieces and nephews.

Ralph is preceded in death by his parents, grandparents; sisters, Ruth Bergstrand, Virginia Cue, Barbara Pederson Stark, Dorothy Clegg, Helen Morrison; brother, Russell Lee; father-in-law, Elden Putnam, mother-in-law, Olive Putnam; brothers-in-law, Deverl Putnam, “Bub”, Blaine Putnam, Danny Putnam, Don Stonebraker, Dee Thornhill, Allen Bergstrand, George Cue, Gerald Clegg, Pete Pederson, Jim Stark, Bob Morrison; several nieces and nephews.
