Robert W. Fitzgerald

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our amazing father, Robert W. Fitzgerald, who passed away peacefully on April 23, 2023 at the age of 89. He was born to Ishmael Wren and Lucile Miles Fitzgerald on March 1, 1934.

Robert graduated from South Summit High School in Kamas, Utah and attended Brigham Young University and Utah State University.

He met the love of his life, Annie LaWanna Robinson of Coalville, Utah. They were married in Elko, Nevada in 1958.  In 1976, their marriage was solemnized and they were sealed to their children in the Salt Lake Utah Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Robert and LaWanna raised their family in Kamas, Utah. They had seven wonderful children who absolutely loved their parents!

LaWanna passed away in 1980, leaving Robert to raise their 7 children—their youngest daughter being 3 years old.

As a farmer, a miner, a custodian, and a business owner, Robert was known for his incredible work ethic and friendly demeanor.

Family was always Robert’s number one love. Nothing brought him greater joy than to be with or talk about his family. He loved gathering the family together. 

Robert is preceded in death by his eternal sweetheart Annie LaWanna and his beautiful daughter Kalinn. He is survived by their children: Darlene (Clancy) Gallagher, Julie (Ken) McNeely, Jill (Stephen) Kirk, John (Roxan) Fitzgerald, David (Becky) Fitzgerald, Shelly (Greg) Foote, 22 grandchildren, and 46 great-grandchildren.

 Robert was a very caring, selfless, and generous person who was fun to be around. We will miss him terribly and long for the day we can hold him in our arms again.

Friends may visit with the family on Saturday, April 29, 2023 at 10:00 am at the Kamas LDS Church, 100 W Center St., Kamas, Utah.

The Graveside Service will be held after the viewing at 12:00 pm at the Marion Cemetery, 832 E 2700 N, Kamas, Utah.
