Rita Moore

Rita Iva Moore died February 4, 2016 at Rocky Mountain Care in Evanston after a long and courageous battle with Cerebral Amyloid Angiopathy.  Rita was born in Evanston on March 31, 1947 to Thorald and Kita Porter.  Rita had two siblings Bill Porter and Wendy Danielson.
Rita was a graduate of Evanston High School, class of 1965.  On August 20, 1966 she married the love of her life Donald Moore in Evanston.  Rita and Don had four wonderful children: Michelle, Natalie, Brian and Steve.  Rita and Don were blessed with 13 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
Rita enjoyed her 35 years working at the Wyoming State Hospital.  She began as a Clerk Typist and earned her way to the position of Head of Medical Records.  During her time at the State Hospital she obtained her ART (Accredited Record Technician) degree.  Rita was very proud of this accomplishment.  Rita retired from her position at the Wyoming State Hospital in 2005.
Rita devoted her life to being a caring and loving daughter, sister, wife, mother-in-law, grandmother, and most of all mother.  Rita always put family first.  She thrived on getting all family members together for any occasion.  Rita’s love for life, singing and laughter was infectious to all that were blessed to know her.
Rita enjoyed bowling, softball, camping, photography, watching wildlife, and going for four wheeler rides.  She was faithfully devoted to watching her children and grandchildren participate in various activities.  In 2011, Rita was given Wyoming’s Greatest High School Football Fan Award by the National Football Foundation.
Rita is survived by her husband Don, Michelle (Joe) Martin of Evanston, Natalie (Jeff) Smart of Garland, Utah, Brian (Becca) Moore of Draper, Utah, and Steve (Somer) Moore of Evanston.  She is survived by Brother Bill (Linda) Porter of Evanston, Sister Wendy (Phil) Danielson of Rialto California and her Mother-in-Law Ella Fae ‘Wiggy’ Moore of Evanston.  Rita is also survived by her 13 grandchildren: Carli (Cimaron), Baillie (Jordan), Brock, Kelli (Jeremy), Blake, Brett, Buckley, Sammi, Maggie, Tynli, Jaxin, Porter, Karter and her 5 great grandchildren: Cinch, Ella Fae, Taos, Daphnie, Lael.  Rita was preceded in death by her parents Kita and Thorald Porter, Uncle Ed and Aunt Alta Jones, Father-in-Law Verdon Moore, Nephew Mark Porter, and Niece Melissa Porter.
Viewings will be held Monday, February 8th from 6 to 8 p.m. and from 9:30-10:40 a.m. prior to the funeral services at the Crandall Funeral Home.  Funeral services will be held Tuesday, February 9th at 11 a.m. at the 3rd and 6th Ward Chapel on Morse Lee Street in Evanston.  Interment will follow immediately at the Evanston City Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the Evanston Hungry Children Backpack Program (www.evanstonhungrychildren.com) in her name.
