Marvin Hamilton

Marvin Wilford Hamilton, age 92, died on October 25, 2019.  He was born in Roosevelt, UT September 20, 1927 to Marvin Reece Hamilton and Ruby Johnson Hamilton, the oldest boy in a family of five sisters and two other brothers.  He had a love for motorcycles when he came over to Mountain View from Roosevelt, until his youngest brother was killed on the motorcycle that he had left in Roosevelt.  In 1947 he was working on the Joaquin drilling rig when he came over into Mountain View and started working with Maurice (Moe) and Lind Slagowski on different drilling rigs around the area. The brothers then took Marvin home for a thanksgiving dinner and “to meet sis” their sister Shirley.

Marvin and Shirley were married in April 1949.  He continued to work on the drilling rigs for a while, worked on the Aspen railroad tunnel between Fort Bridger and Evanston, then as a farm hand on the Beach Ranch.  After that he started working at the Mountain View School District as a janitor, maintenance man and bus driver for over 30 years, 1959 – 1990.  All the teachers liked his as he would help them out whenever asked.  After retirement from the school he helped around the Presbyterian Church, checking furnaces, snow removal and watering lawns.

Shirley passed away July 1, 1995.  He is survived by his daughter, Debra Smith of Mountain View, one sister and two brothers.  Additionally preceded in death by his parents, one brother and three sisters.

Funeral services will be at the First Presbyterian Church in Mountain View, 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 2, 2019.  Visitation will be from 9:30 till 10:50 a.m. prior to services.  Interment will follow in the Fort Bridger Cemetery.
