Marvin Cornia

December 1, 1936 — February 22, 2023

Woodruff

Marvin South Cornia, known by everyone as Tick, passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side February 22, 2023.  He was born December 1,1936 to Owen “Dodge” and Lillie South Cornia in Woodruff, Utah.  He was third of four children Maxine, John, Tick and Scott.

He grew up when money was tight, but he still enjoyed his childhood with many adventures he came up with on his own. Stories of his childhood included many hours of chasing butterflies and training mice. He also went fishing a lot with a string tied onto a willow branch, catching chubs and suckers in the creek two miles from his home. It was there that he refined the art of flyfishing, which he loved.

He later graduated from South Rich High School. During those years he played basketball, football, and met his dance partner and love of his life Pearl McKinnon. After 3 ½ years of courtship they were later married on April 20, 1956.  They were sealed for time and all eternity on March 30, 1964 in the Logan temple. Together they raised four children Criss, Cindy, Bart and Teena.

As a family they bonded through hard work on their 160-acre ranch, going to rodeos, wrestling matches, fishing, following the Bar J Wranglers throughout the region and making memories that are sure to  stand the test of time.

Tick enjoyed lending a hand to anyone who was in need, oftentimes anonymously.  Those closest to him know the generosity of his heart, his hard work ethic, honesty, and his witty sense of humor.   When working next to him, one would rarely know that they were working because he would make a game of work.

Tick’s greatest love was for his family.  He loved spending time with them, giving them a hard time and sharing stories of his adventures in life.   His second love was hard work and striving to be a good person.

He was preceded in death by his parents Dodge and Lillie Cornia, his wife Pearl McKinnon Cornia, son Bart Cornia, and siblings Maxine Nichols and John Cornia.  He is survived by son Criss Cornia, daughters Cindy (Jeff) Haggit, Teena (Jason) Chandler, 11 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.

The family would like to thank Atlas Home Health for the love and support they provide our father.

Funeral services will be held at the Woodruff LDS Chapel.  Viewing will be Sunday, February 26th from 6-8 PM and Monday the 27th from 9:30 to 10:45 followed by the funeral starting at 11:00 AM.
