Rae Woodard

Margery Rae Mitchell Woodard, 83, passed away October 9, 2020 in Oakley, Utah.

She was born on December 3, 1936 in Kamas, Utah to Wallace Nephi and Margaret Laveta (Anderson) Mitchell in her Grandma and Grandpa Mitchell's home.

She absolutely enjoyed being a mom. Those were some of the best years of her life! She enjoyed having little babies and watching them grow. She always tried to teach her kids to be fair and be happy with everybody.

The most important thing to Rae was her family; she found joy in being a mom, grandma, and great grandma. She made each and every family member feel like they were the most important person in the world. She was genuinely concerned about every detail in each person individually.

Rae loved to work with her hands and she had a talent and a love of making homemade crafts for holidays, birthdays and Christmas. These gifts included porcelain dolls, chalked ceramic elk and buffalos, doilies and crocheted dresses for barbie dolls. One year for Christmas she made cabbage patch dolls and horses for each grandchild. When the grandchildren graduated from High School she made them a quilt and when they got married an afghan. Every Great Grandchild would receive a signed birthday card in the mail each year for their special day.

She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and enjoyed many callings. She served in the primary as a teacher and later in the presidency, scout leader and mutual teacher. She enjoyed being a visiting teacher and also working as an ordinance worker in the Salt Lake Temple for 10 years.

Rae had a beautiful testimony of prayer and the eternal plan that families can be together forever. Her love for the Savior was exemplified by the way she loved and cared for her family and the way she treated others. She truly was an angel on earth, constantly doing good and serving others. Love and kindness radiated from her like sunshine.

Rae liked to take road trips, although she did not like to fly she has been to Hawaii. Some of her trips include The Redwood Forest, Disneyland, San Francisco, Nauvoo, St. Louis, New York State and Yellowstone. She also enjoyed going to Wendover with the Senior Citizens.

Some of her jobs were frying chicken at the Texaco, cooking for the Senior Citizens, cleaning for Mrs. Fields and selling lumber at Leavitt's. She loved to eat at The Olive Garden and her favorite holiday was Thanksgiving.

Although Rae's structure was small her love and impact in our lives was big. In Rae's words her legacy to pass on is LOVE.

She is survived by her four children, Karri Lyne Prescott, Tim (Julie) Woodard, SuzAnne Woodard and John (Kim) Woodard; her brother, Jack (Ellen) Mitchell; and sister Janice (Jimmy) Crystal. She will be missed by 27 grandchildren and 39 great grandchildren.

Rae is preceded in death by her parents Wallace Nephi Mitchell and Margaret Laveta (Anderson) Mitchell; a brother, Lynn Mitchell; a sister, Royce Annette Mitchell; a son-in-law, Lorin Prescott; and two sister-in-law's Judi Mitchell and Janice Mitchell.

Funeral service will be on Tuesday, October 13, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. in the Kamas L.D.S Ward Chapel, 100 West Center Street.  Viewing will be at the church Monday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and from 10:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. prior to the funeral.  Interment will be in the Francis Cemetery.
