Margaret Bowman

April 26, 1930 — April 16, 2021

Margaret Louise Bowman passed away peacefully on April 16, 2021. She was born on April 26, 1930 in Evanston, Wyoming to Jesse Clark and Maud Emma Crompton. She was swept off her feet at 18, by a handsome young man working in Evanston as a heavy equipment operator in tunnel construction, and they were married on April 2, 1949. She and Dwain “Tiny” Bowman adventured through life, moving frequently with his job.  Tiny obtained his pilot license and they traveled frequently in his Cessna 182, attending square dancing conventions and visiting friends and family. They also loved water skiing, traveling, and cruising to a variety of locations.

Margaret was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, devoting substantial time to church service in the Upton Ward, and also working in the Ogden Temple. She was incredibly generous of spirit and felt a personal responsibility to provide compassionate service to all those she met. She delivered countless meals and treats, in addition to many quiet acts of kindness for friends, family and community members.

Margaret lived passionately and loved fiercely.  For nearly five decades she bowled in local leagues, rarely missing a game and serving as league secretary for over fifteen years. She looked forward to traveling with friends to national tournaments across the U.S. every year.  She found great joy and fulfillment in her flower garden. Her summers were committed to endless hours of planting and gardening each year, cultivating beauty in her elaborate variety of flowers. She enjoyed sharing this talent through floral arrangements at church and at the Summit County Fair where she served as a flower and horticulture specialist for over 30 years.  She also ran the Upton Scone Booth at the fair for several years, raising funds for various Upton community improvements.  In 2008, she was honored as Summit County Fair’s Grand Marshall.

Her heart truly belonged to her family. She was adored by her grandchildren, and never missed a performance, recital, or event. She loved nothing more than having the entire family together. She was immensely proud of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and took every opportunity to brag about their various accomplishments and activities.

She will be deeply missed, but was an example and role-model to each of us, and will live on through all of the lives she touched. She leaves an incredible legacy of a life beautifully lived.

She is survived by her daughter Shannon (Kevin) Orgill of Upton, Utah (grandkids Taryn (Shane) Robertson, Crystal Orgill, Dustin Orgill, & Tyler (Lauren) Orgill); son Michael Bowman (grandkids Jarah King, Jason (Arisse) Bowman, Josh (Jamie) Bowman, Joy Bowman, & Jonathon Bowman. She will also be missed by the nine great-grandchildren she leaves behind. She is preceded in death by her parents, older sisters Fern Peterson, Ila Crompton, and Lucille Martin, daughter-in-law Laurencine Bowman, and grandson, Brian Bowman Orgill.

A viewing will be held on Tuesday, April 20th, from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m., in the L.D.S. Ward Chapel in Upton, on Chalk Creek Road followed by a funeral service at 12p.m. Interment will follow at the Evanston City Cemetery. Online condolences may be given at crandallfhevanston.com. Special thanks to Corey Ann Blonquist for her kindness and compassionate care during unprecedented and challenging world events.
