Lee Stoddard

Leland (Lee) Jay Stoddard beloved husband, father, grandfather, uncle, brother passed away at his home in Mountain View, WY and returned to his Father in Heaven, Tuesday, October 15, 2019. Lee was born November 19, 1949, in Rock Springs, WY to Myrtle Bernice Hamblin and Wilfred Stoddard. He grew up in Mountain View where he created many happy memories. While in high school Lee played football, basketball and participated in track for the Mountain View Buffalos. After his children graduated from MVHS, he continued to be an avid fan of the Buffs and went to many games across the state.

He served in the Brazil Sao Paulo Mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, before joining the Army and going to Vietnam.

He married VaLynne Bostwick on May 11, 1973 in Mountain View and the marriage was solemnized 10 years later in the Jordan River Temple.

After retiring from Solvay Minerals Lee served two more missions with his wife; the first was the Vanuatu Port Vila Mission in the South Pacific and then at Historic Liberty Jail in the Missouri Independence mission. They made many wonderful friends and memories while serving the Lord.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, VaLynne, four children, Jay C, of Salt Lake, Carma Lee (Lewis) Thomas of Mountain View, Cyndi (Alex) Cromarty of Salt Lake, and Nathan (Rachel) of Mountain View; 9 grandchildren and one on the way. Also surviving are three sisters, Louise (Vernon) Stringer, Coralie Bradshaw and Elaine Clark, his brother Bob (Christine), and many 'favorite' nieces and nephews.

Lee is preceded in death by his parents, 2 sisters; Lois Skillin and Ruth Stoddard, a brother-in- law, Harold Skillin, 3 grandchildren, a nephew Spencer Skillin, and a niece Gail (Stringer) Carson.

A viewing will be held from 6 to 8 on Friday, October 18, 2019 and Saturday, October 19, from 9:30 to 11 at the Lyman Stake Center in Urie, Wyoming. Funeral will be immediately following the viewing Saturday, at 11am, at the Lyman Stake Center, 3815 N. Hwy 414, in Urie. Interment will be in the Milburne Cemetery.
