Julie Kallbacka

November 4, 1960 — August 16, 2021

Evanston, WY

Julie Kallbacka, 60, of Evanston Wyoming, passed away on August 16th, 2021 after a short but valiant battle with COVID.

Julie was born on November 4th, 1960 to Joanne and Grant Poulsen in Provo, Utah. After graduating from Provo High School, She began her career as a dog show handler, breeder and professional groomer. She also wrote a genetics column for the American Kennel Club.  Julie loved animals, her favorites were German Shepherds, horses and wolves. When Julie was a child, her favorite pastime was riding her horse through her family's land or sleeping cuddled up on the floor with the dogs.

In the spring of 1976 Julie met John Kallbacka and by September the two were married.  Julie and John went on to have 3 children together, John Jason, and twins Nicole Deanne and Jacob Grant. In September 2020 Julie and John celebrated their 44th wedding anniversary.

After retiring, Julie spent her time with her children and grandchildren. Her grandchildren always brought Julie so much joy. She loved being a grandma. She was an avid reader and could always be found with her nose in a book. She loved music and was frequently attending rock concerts. Her favorite bands included American Hitmen, Ginger and the Gents, Royal Bliss, Led Zeppelin and a plethora of others. When she wasn’t participating in those activities, she was spending time with her dogs or her children.

Julie was a force of nature, incredibly determined, with a mind of her own that led her to always do things her own way. She was dedicated to providing the best she possibly could for her family. Her family meant more to her than anything else in the world.  She often demonstrated this by frequently giving little gifts of advice or sharing some of her vast knowledge with her loved ones. She always gave the best advice and was always willing to help those in need. Julie had the biggest heart and would give the shirt off her back to someone in need. Julie opened her heart and home to take in and care for a number of their childrens' friends throughout the years. Julie taught and practiced the Golden Rule which made it easy for her to love others and make friends easily.  She was unendingly proud of her children Jason, Jacob, and Nicole and she always tried her best to support them in every way she could. Anyone who knew Julie knew that she was the most loving mother, wife and grandmother a family could ever ask for.

Julie was predeceased by her husband John, Her mother Joanne, Her father Grant, and her sister Deborah. She is survived by her children John Jason (Tiffany), Nicole Deanne (Chris), Jacob Grant (Courtney), five granddaughters, one sister and one brother, and a large number of friends and loved ones.

Per Julie’s request, we will not be holding a  funeral service.
