John 'Poppy' Bonser

1950 — January 1, 2020

Mountain View, WY

John “Poppy” Bonser passed away at home on August 13th, 2020.

John was born in England in January 1950 the only child to Sid and Aileen Bonser. He loved to play soccer in his younger years and partial to spending his free time partaking in a beverage at his local pub. He worked in the coal mines from a young age leading to him immigrating to America in the late 70’s with the love of his life Carol.  After moving to Rock Springs WY and having 2 children Ashley and Leanne they then settled in Mtn View WY.

John had a larger than life personality and was loved by everyone who met him. People loved talking to him to listen to his English accent and his jokes (with some swearing).  He had a way of making everyone feel welcome and a part of his family.  He was never afraid to express his opinion, or worried about what anyone thought of him (although everyone loved him).

Over the years John kept himself busy with his various hobbies from raising rabbits, pheasants, his children’s 4-H and FFA animals, leading back to his rabbits in his final years after he retired from working in the trona mines.  He loved hunting and fishing and spent many years of his life catching fish on the gorge. He managed to do all the things he loved while working hard to provide for his family and supporting them in any way he could. He was the most loving husband, father and grandfather anyone could ask for.

John is preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife Carol, his son Ashley (Tiffany) and his sons Jared, Braden, Kade and Kasen, his daughter Leanne (Shaun) and their sons Kieran and Finley.

At his request no service will be held, a celebration of life will take place at a later time.
