Erik Hicken

July 21, 1997 — January 5, 2022

South Jordan, UT

Sergeant Erik William Hicken was born July 21, 1997 in Salt Lake City, UT and passed away January 5, 2022.

Loved by all, Erik was the life of the party; he never failed to bring a smile to people’s faces. He had a heart as big as he was and he always stood up for the underdog; the champion for everyone. Erik overcame many obstacles, but his proudest moment was when he lost 115 lbs in 6 months to join the Utah National Guard. He was a combat veteran and served his country honorably and had recently returned home from deployment. His truly selfless nature was reflected in his service to those he served and those he served with. He would always put others before himself. He was a skilled operator with heavy equipment and was happiest with a chainsaw in his hand. He loved the outdoors and his place of peace was always in the mountains. Erik refused to stop making you laugh, despite his own pain. The best way to honor him is to remember the good times and have a good laugh.

Erik is survived by his parents Craig and Brenda Hicken, sister Sydney Hicken, brother Quinn Hicken (Samantha Hicken), nephews Chris and Zayn Hicken and his muse Equus Carlson and her family. He is preceded in death by his brother Neil, Grandpa and Grandma McNeil, Grandpa and Grandma Hicken, Aunt Debra, Aunt Jerry, and many others.

A viewing for Erik will be held Wednesday, January 12, 2022 at the Kamas Utah Stake Center in Marion from 6 pm to 8 pm. Funeral services will be Thursday January 13, 2022 at the Kamas Utah Stake Center starting at 11 am. Interment will be at the Marion Utah Cemetery on Upper Loop Road.
