Dorothy Asay

Dorothy “Dot” Marie Heiden Asay passed away Sunday September 19, 2021 at the age of 92. She was surrounded by her children and grandchildren at The Lodge Rocky Mountain Care in Heber Utah. Dorothy was born on July 8 1929, in Selfridge North Dakota to Herman Charles Heiden and Lillie Elizabeth Howden. She was the 7th child of Lillie and the 10th child of Herman. At 3 months old the family moved to the Thermopolis area where her dad worked on several different ranches. Later in her life her family moved to Meeteetse where she attended and graduated as class president. During her high school years, she met Wayne Asay who she fell in love with and became the love of her life, it all started with a ride to school and being asked to sit in the front seat. Shortly after meeting Wayne she got a job at the YU Ranch which so happened to be Wayne’s dads Ranch. Their relationship grew and they were married in Billings, Montana June 16th, 1948. A short year later Dorothy was baptized and converted to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and was sealed for time and all eternity in Salt Lake City, Utah Temple on December 15th, 1949. Wayne and Dorothy were blessed with 5 children.

Dorothy loved the outdoors, gardening, flowers, oil painting, sewing, her family and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints where she held many position such as Sunday School Teacher, Secretary of Young Women, Laurel advisor, Primary Teacher and Primary President, Relief Society Teacher, Relief Society President, Stake Relief Society President and Bishops Wife, she was a Stake Missionary for 2 years, she served one full time mission in Calhan, Colorado with Wayne Asay for one year, Temple Ordinance worker for 2 years in Ogden Utah, as well as baptism coordinators.

Dorothy is survived by her Husband Wayne Asay, Sons, Harris (Marion) Asay, Bernard (Kathy) Asay, Brad (Audrey) Asay, and daughter Cristi (Scott) Sidwell, and Son-in-law Gene Hutchinson. Sister, Bet Curtis and Brother, Donnie Heiden.

She was proceeded in death by her parent’s Herman and Lillie Heiden, Daughter Bonnie Hutchinson, Sister Jane Olds, and Brother’s Bob, Gordon, Lester, Bernard, Earnie Heiden, Glen Heiden, and Dog Skipper.

The Funeral for Dorothy Asay will be held Friday, September 24th, at 1:00 PM at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints located at 721 West Cheyenne Dr. Evanston Wyoming.

There will be a viewing held on Thursday, September 23rd from 6:00pm- 8:00pm and Friday at at noon to 12:45 PM at the the Church.

Interment will be at the Evanston Cemetery.
