David Baer

Mountain View

A faithful servant, David M. Baer was called home on May 3, 2023. He died peacefully with his family at
his side after a short battle with cancer.

He was born Sept 30, 1947 to Delbert and Mabel Baer in Chillicothe, IL and grew up in Braidwood, IL.

He married the love of his life, Vickie, and they lived the majority of their life in Bridger Valley. Together,
they raised 2 daughters Shannon and Tammy. And, after the death of his daughter Tammy, he selflessly
raised 2 of his grandchildren, Brooke and Levi.

Dave was a veteran of the Vietnam War where he served in the Navy from 1968-1972. He then made a
career in the oil field and retired in 2013.

He had many hobbies, such as hunting, especially bow hunting, making arrows, hound dogs, fishing,
horses, rodeo’s, playing cards with family, and playing pool with many friends. He sat on many several
boards across the State of Wyoming over the years. He represented the Bow Hunters of Wyoming, he
was part of the VFW honor guard, sage grouse preservation board, and the Cowboy Hall of Fame to
name a few.

As a devout Christian, he was a long time member of the Bridger Valley Baptist Church where he served
many years as a Circuit Preacher around the State, and he was a chaplain at the TA truck stop for many
many years.

He is survived by his wife Vickie Baer of Mountain View, his daughter Shannon (Lonnie) Meeks of
Mountain View, his grandchildren, Brooke (Jeff) Nevills, Hayden (Erika) Meeks, Levi Hanney, and Hunter
Meeks. His 4 great grandchildren, Haxxtyn and Hollynd Meeks, and Wyatt and Tucker Nevills. His
nephew and buddy Mathew (Stacy) Bess of Lyman, 1 brotherJim Baer, and 3 sisters Sue, Jo, and Liz of
Illinois.

He was preceded in death by his daughter Tammy Hanney, his parents Delbert and Mabel Baer and a
sister Mary Baer.

Services will be held at the Bridger Valley Baptist Church in Lyman, Wy on May 8th at 11:00am. A viewing
will be held on Sunday May 7th from 4-6pm, and again on Monday May 8th at 9:00am. Graveside services
will follow at the Fort Bridger cemetery.
