Darryl Black

September 20, 1948 — April 3, 2022

Bear River, WY

Darryl Nicol Black, son of Forest Ring Black and Dixie Mae Nicol (Black) and stepson of Sandra May Black, born 20 September 1948 in New Orleans, Louisiana, passed away on 3 April 2022, at the high-ranking level of 73 years. He passed from a pulmonary embolism while in the hospital in Evanston, Wyoming.

He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Diane, their eight children, Derek, Christi, Tammi, Heidi, Leanne, Alan, Ben and Sara, 24 grandchildren, 3 horses, 4 dogs, a cat and several chickens, who all adore him and will miss him very much. He also leaves behind 3 brothers, Lance, Landon, Vonn and his nieces and nephews and great- nieces and nephews, to join his parents and his sister, Rae Lynn, waiting to welcome him in the next life.

Darryl was a strong disciple of Jesus Christ and a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He served a faithful mission for the church in Germany. During his first marriage, he attended BYU and lived several places due to military service, including returning to Germany during the Cold War.

He was an avid reader but also enjoyed watching college football and soccer. He spoke several languages including fluent German and Russian and he played the organ and piano.

Although he made more than his share of mistakes in this life, in the end he turned to God with his whole heart and received the forgiveness and joy he deserved, which he, in turn, shared with others through love and laughter.
