Benito Lovato

April 7, 1942 — May 16, 2022

Benito Lovato passed away peacefully on May 16, 2022 at his home following a courageous battle with cancer.  Benito was born April 7, 1942 in Chamisal, New Mexico.

In 1958 he married Doris Cleaningsmith and they had a son, David. Ben and Doris later divorced.  Ben entered the United States Army in 1963, stationed in Fort Polk, LA and Fort Hood, TX. He was honorably discharged in 1966. That year, he began his 34 year career with the Union Pacific Railroad.

In 1968, he married Linda Thornock Westmoreland, becoming a dad to her daughter, Audra.  Ben and Linda together had two more daughters, Lucinda and Patricia.  Ben was preceded in death by his parents; David and Mary Lovato and Adam and Mary Guiterrez; brothers Johnny, Edward, Leroy, Manuel, Flavia and Raymond and great-granddaughter Annalyse Bell.

He is survived by his wife, Linda; son David Spencer; daughters Audra (Dan) Bell, Lucinda Townsend, and Patricia (Nathan) Wright; sisters Beverly (Sonny) Madrid, Mary Inez Lovato, Geraldine Cintas and Hedy (Merrill) McDonald as well as 8 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Per Ben's wishes, cremation has taken place.

Graveside services will be on Saturday, May 21, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. in the Evanston City Cemetery.
