Walter Edward Lowther passed peacefully at home November 29, 2021.
He was born January 27, 1939 in Parkersburg, West Virginia to Halbert and Sylvia Jane Wyatt Lowther.
Walter was a United States Marine Veteran serving during the Cold War. After receiving an honorable discharge, he returned to West Virginia doing various jobs until going to work for O’ ames Shovel Plant. Coming to Wyoming in 1978, he fell in love with Wyoming and stayed, going to work for General Chemical (Tata)
Upon retiring he went to work with his sons as a haul truck operator. That was a special time for him being with his boys and playing in his ‘Tonka Truck’ as he said.
A man of many talents, he would tackle any job head on. His favorite was anything to do with his beloved tractors. Many seasons he would be found in the hayfield on one of his Farmall’s.
It tickled him to get the hay in on a 1950’s tractor and the new boys as he called them were struggling to keep their new tractors in the fields.
Walter is survived by his wife of 43 years, Kathleen; sons Art (Trisha), James (Mindy), Clayton (Nicki); daughters Virginia Knight, Janet (Ed) Pattison, Shelia (Martin) Buss, Trudy Hess; sister Louise Smith and grandchildren and great grandchildren and great great grandchildren and his faithful dog ‘Bootsy’.
He is preceded in death by his parents, brother Delbert Lowther, sister Deloris Black, grandson Brian Lowther and great granddaughter Alexis Hartshorn.
Cremation has taken place and a memorial is pending for a later date.
