Ryan Jason Hamblin
Ryan Jason Hamblin, 39, of Evanston, Wyoming, passed away at home during the early morning hours of December 3, 2011 after a courageous battle with cancer.
Ryan was born on March 24, 1972 in Monterey California to Rory and Linda Hamblin of Evanston. After moving from West Jordan Utah, he attended schools in Evanston, Wyoming and graduated as a member of the Evanston High School Centennial class of 1990. While attending Evanston High School Ryan lettered in Golf, Basketball, being named to the Wyoming South All Conference Team and Track (high jump) where he won the conference high jump, setting several school records along the way. He went on to win the coveted Meet of Champions high jump event. He was also a member of the 1990 state champion Evanston Outlaws American Legion baseball team as a pitcher and 2nd baseman. Not only did Ryan excel in sports but was also named the outstanding AP Calculus AB student for 1990. He also loved music, playing tenor saxophone in the EHS Jazz Band. He loved spending time with his sons, nieces and nephews, hiking and biking in the Uinta Mountains, and later playing softball and especially playing golf.
After graduating from Evanston High School, Ryan attended the College of Southern Idaho in Twin Falls on a track scholarship. He later finished his Associates degree at Western Wyoming College in Rock Springs while working full time at Mountain Regional Services, Inc. in Evanston. He diligently worked there serving others as a Case Manager and Case Manager Director for almost 20 years, dedicated to those he served and those he served with. He made many friendships there and was well known for his quick wit and sense of humor, making life brighter for those who knew him.
Ryan is survived by his wife Candy Hamblin, his parents, Linda and Rory Hamblin, sons Skyler Hamblin and Matt Lawver, his brother Brett (Janalee) Hamblin, brother-in-law Lonnie (Chris) Sorenson, sister Kristen (Jeremy) Lash, all of Evanston, his sister Heather (Curtis) Beck, of Layton, Utah and his grandmother Betty Hamblin of Duchesne, Utah. He is also survived by nieces Jessica, Kimberlee, Katelynn, Emily, Larissa, Tasha and Brendee and nephews Taydem, Daniel and Rylie. He was preceded in death by his grandmother Erma Shepherd, and grandfathers Glen W. Shepherd and Jess J. Hamblin.
Services for Ryan will be held on Wednesday, December 7th at the Evanston Wyoming South Stake Center starting at 11:00 AM with internment to follow in the Evanston City Cemetery. There will be a viewing conducted one hour before services on Wednesday, and on Tuesday evening, from 6 PM to 8 PM at the Crandall Funeral Home, 800 Uinta Street, Evanston, where friends and family may come by and share some stories, or just to pay tribute to Ryan and the effect he has had on their lives. We would like to thank all of his friends and family members for their thoughts, prayers and generosity during his time of need.
Ryan's family suggests memorial donations be made to any local cancer victim foundation fund, such as the Cancer Resource Center and festival of families.
