Rickie J. Hoopes finished his mission here on earth and returned to his Heavenly Father on November 4, 2023.

Rickie was born November 30, 1948, to Verna Lue Cox and James Alfred Hoopes.

He spent time with his grandparents Burl and Mildred Hoopes and graduated from Lyman High School Class of 1967.  Rickie volunteered to join the Marines right out of high school. He was honorably discharged in 1969.

Rickie married Debbie Rappleye in May of 1974 in Elko, Nevada. To this union was born five sons, Dwayne, Jamie (Cheryl), Rickie M. (Stacey), Jeff and Jeremy. They later divorced.

Rickie married Susan Richardson in June of 1986, where he adopted her three children. Brandy, Danny, and Jennifer.  They later divorced.

Rickie was an avid hunter and loved to fish.  He shared his passion with his children, grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Rickie was born into a family of sheep shearers. At a young age Rickie learned the wool business from tromping wool in the wool bag, to becoming a sheep shearer and to pass it down to his sons Jamie and Rickie M. he was an amazing carpenter and built multiple structures.  Rickie retired from FMC Mine in 2008. He was a gentle giant, family man. A father, grandfather, great grandfather, son, brother, and uncle. He loved his family, and he will be missed dearly.

Rickie was preceded in death by his mother Verna, his father James, son Jeremy, granddaughter Ashlee, and brother Jim.

He is survived by his sons Dwayne, Jamie, Rickie, Jeff, and Danny; daughters Brandy and Jennifer; sixteen grandchildren, ten great grandchildren; his stepmom Sandi Hoopes, brothers Randy (Corrine) Hoopes, Cliff (Dawna) Hoopes; sisters Pam Brown, Kris (Merrill) Stringer, Kari (John) Combs; his dog Duce.

Funeral Services will be held 11:00 am Friday, November 10, 2023, at the Urie LDS Stake Center. Visitation will be from 9:00 – 10:45 am prior to services. Interment will follow with Military Honors in the Lyman City Cemetery.
