Rebecca Twitchell Micheli passed away at her home on Sunday, July 1, 2012. Rebecca was born October 9, 1925 to Frank and Myrtle Twitchell. She grew up on the family farm in Lyman with her six sisters and two brothers. Music was a big part of their lives and she and her sisters sang at numerous funerals, in church and other community events.
Rebecca married the love of her life, Joe G. Micheli, on December 20, 1947, and they enjoyed 63 happy years together until his passing in November. They worked side-by-side on the ranch, for the Bridger Valley Water Conservancy District, 4-H, and Farm Bureau. She enjoyed being at Joe’s side as he called square dancing and instructing the dancers. They also enjoyed playing their accordions in a band for several years.
Rebecca was a lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many different capacities therein. She especially loved her callings in Junior Sunday School where she could work teaching children. She was a very devoted visiting teacher and loved visiting those sisters. Rebecca also loved serving throughout the community. She was a dedicated 4-H leader for 25 years where she patiently taught many young girls in the community to sew and cook. Rebecca loved music and taught youth on both the piano and accordion. She worked for the Postal Service in Fort Bridger for 24 years.
Throughout her life, nothing meant more to Becky than her family. She lovingly served her children and they were her greatest joy. The highlight for her children and grandchildren was to reach into grandma’s cookie jar for a treat. Going to grandma’s house was always a special treat because you were welcomed with individual love and affection. She was an example of devotion and sense of duty to her posterity.
Rebecca is survived by her two sons Ron (Patty) Micheli, and Dale (Terry) Micheli both of Fort Bridger and four daughters Marcia (Jeff) Gonda of Sheridan, WY, Marielle (Barney) Brisko of Fort Bridger, Patty (Mark) Taylor of Afton, WY, and Michelle (Greg) Reasch of Vernal, UT. She is also survived by her 31 grandchildren and 60 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; sister, Marcelle Carter; and two granddaughters, Mandy Micheli and Stephanie Gonda.
Services will be held on Friday, July 6, 2012, at 11 a.m. at the Lyman LDS Stake Center in Urie, WY. The family will greet friends from 6 until 8 p.m. on Thursday, July 5, and also prior to the funeral services from 9-10:45 a.m. at the stake center. Interment will be at the Fort Bridger Cemetery.
