Michael Naylor, 65, died at his home in Evanston, Wyoming Thursday, June 7, 2012. He was born December 13, 1946, to Harry Lee Naylor, and Kathryn Fox Naylor MacNabb.
Michael graduated from the Walden School in Washington DC. Though he never attended college, he was a student all his life. He was born in the United States but grew up living abroad in places such as Iran and the Philippines. His Father was an anthropologist. Michael lived in Wyoming for most of his adult life, and Evanston was his home for the past 30 years. Michael was loved by everyone who knew him, and he truly never met a stranger. He was a fixture in the downtown community and in particular the artist community. He was a prolific artist and generously shared his gifts with others. Michael was an enthusiastic member of the CLIP program and a long time member of its Consumer Board. He was also a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Evanston third ward. He was a gentle-man, part of the rare breed of individuals who exemplify kindness and civility.
Michael is survived by one brother, Mark MacNab of San Diego, CA and by his beloved cat Jasmine. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Michael’s family has expressed their appreciation to the many individuals who enriched his life here in Evanston. He will be greatly missed by his friends at CLIP, and by the many individuals whose lives were enriched by knowing Michael.
Michael had an inquisitive nature and he was a self-educated scholar on many topics. In keeping with his wishes, his body will be donated for research to further our knowledge of the disease of Schizophrenia and its treatment.
A memorial service to honor his life will be held on Thursday, June 14, 2012 at 10am at the Evanston LDS 3rd Ward Chapel, located at 1224 Morse Lee St. A luncheon will follow services and be provided by the 3rd Ward Relief Society.
