Almy, Wy. Larry Rufi: Services for Larry Rufi who passed away on July 25, 2011 at his home, will be held July 28, 2011 at 10 Am at the Evanston City Courthouse.


Cremation has taken place, his ashes are to be spread at his favorite place overlooking the Bear River Valley.


Larry was born on January 9, 1942 to Virgil and Ella Whittaker Rufi. He was born on First Avenue at his grandmother Whittakers home and spent his early years growing up in North Evanston going to the old Brown School and graduating from Evanston High School in 1960.


Larry served four years in the Navy on ocean going Mine Sweepers in the Western and Southern Pacific during the Vietnam Era from 1961-1965.


After discharge from the navy Larry married Sherrie Fearn in 1965. They spent 46 years together.

Larry spent most of his life doing X-ray and Nuclear medicine being retired from the Wyoming State Hospital at the time of his death.


Larry graduated from St. Benedicts Hospital School of Radiologic Technology and the University of Utah Hospitals School of Nuclear Medicine Technology. He worked in Nuclear Medicine for years at the University of Utah Hospital in the late sixties and early seventies. He served as a radiology consultant for Hospital Corporation of America. He was Technical Director of Radiology at the old Valley Hospital (Pioneer Valley) and at the Wyoming State Hospital in Evanston.


He and his family owned and managed the Hornets Nest in Almy for 26 years, before retiring to the family Ranch on the Bear River and his part time job at the Hospital.


Larry is survived by his wife Sherrie, three daughters, Misty (Frank), Brandy, and Brenda (Dave), also three grandchildren, Dani, Dustin, and Derek Saban. He is also survived by his older brother Gene Rufi and his wife Jan of Boise, Idaho and Barrie Rufi and his wife Judith of Salt Lake City, Utah. Larry is preceded in death by his sister Marilyn Meeks, both parents and grandparents.


Donations may be made to the Huntsman Cancer Institute at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City would be greatly appreciated.
