Joylin Reed

Joylin B. Mitchell-Reed, 61, passed away in the early morning of Wednesday, July 28, 2021, at her home in Sandy, Utah, with her family by her side. She was born on January 12, 1960 in Coalville, Utah. Her parents were Virgil Lynn Mitchell and Joyce Ball Mitchell. She grew up in Coalville, Utah making lots of memories and friends.  She graduated from North Summit High School with the class of 1978. During her school years, Joylin was in the rodeo club, on the drill team, played in the band, and went to Girl’s state.

After high school, she attended beauty school to become a cosmetologist. She worked in the hair industry at several beauty salons and eventually had one of her own called, “Joylin’s Hair Design.” She had many clients come to see her from Coalville to Salt Lake. Joylin’s outspoken personality instantly earned her a reputation as a one-of-a-kind stylist and mom. She married Wallace Reed in 1997. While working, she directed and was involved in many scholarships and queen pageants.

She also planned many high school class reunions. The best part of Joylin’s life arrived on May 20, 2003, when her loving daughter Shaneen was born, and from then on, they had an unbreakable bond between them. Joylin was also a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Joylin is survived by her husband Wallace Leon Reed, and her beautiful daughter Shaneen Ajalena Reed. She is preceded in death by her parents.

A Funeral Service for Joylin will be held on August 3, 2021 at the Sandy West Stake Center, 8670 S. 220 E. Sandy, UT at 12:00 Noon. A viewing will be held 2 hours prior from 10:00AM-11:45AM. Burial will take place afterwards at approximately 2:30PM in the Coalville City Cemetery, 175 Industrial Park Road, Coalville, UT.
