John Mathson

September 23, 1930 — July 28, 2012

John (Bob) R. Mathson, our beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and cousin passed away on July 28, 2012 at Evanston Regional Hospital, after a lengthy illness at the age of 81.
Bob was born on September 23, 1930 in Denver, Colorado to John and Edna (Eberhardt) Mathson.  He came to Evanston from Saratoga, WY. To live with his parents, four brothers and one sister.
He graduated from Evanston High School and was in the National Guard where he was Sergeant, Company “A”, 141st tank battalion.
He was employed with the Wyoming Highway Department and retired after 26 ½ years.  He loved his family and relatives very much and had many wonderful friends.
Bob was affiliated with the Evanston Boat Club, Elks Lodge, American Legion, Cowboy Days, the Jaycees & a member of the Episcopal Church.  He enjoyed bowling, boating, fishing, camping, traveling and being with his family and friends.  He especially enjoyed supporting his grandkids in their various activities.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Edna Mathson; brother, Jack Mathson; grandparents, aunts and uncles.
He is survived by his wife, Roma Lee (Payton) Mathson, of 47 years; a daughter, Debbie (Brent) Sanders, of Evanston; a son, Bobby (Becky) Mathson, of Evanston, WY.; and grandchildren, Breanna, Brayton, and Brinae, Dylan, and Brendan.  He is also survived by a sister, Marie (Jim) Reeves; brothers, Jim (Johnnie Sue); Tom (Jawnie) and Dick (Joyce).  He is also survived by a sister in law, Joan Mathson, and several nieces and nephews.
Bob requested cremation for the closure of his life.  There will be a memorial service conducted on Wednesday, August 1, 2012 at 11:0 A.M. at Crandall Funeral Home in Evanston, WY. Inurnment will follow services at the Evanston Cemetery.  A luncheon will follow services at the St. Paul’s Episcopal Church at 10th St. and Sage Street.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to that of the donor’s choice.
