Jimmie Gines

April 5, 1941 — July 24, 2011

Jimmie Gines , 70, died after his courageous battle with cancer. He died peacefully in his home in Kamas, Utah surrounded by his loving wife and children. Jimmie was born on April 5th, 1941 in Coalville, Ut to Clifton and Francis Ellen Gines. He was the youngest of seven children; Mona Leavitt, June Jones, Max Gines, Blaine Gines, Lee Gines, and Jeanette Perkes. He was raised in Woodland Utah and graduated from South Summit High School. Jimmie married his sweetheart, Betty Williams on February 17, 1961. They were later sealed in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on February 14, 1980. Jimmie and Betty raised 6 children; Gary (Diane) Gines, Sally (Stacy) Salmans, Brent (Sheri) Gines, Kim (Eric) Thompson, Kristin (Aaron) Phipps and Susan (Charles) Homan. Jimmie was a faithful member of the LDS church where he held many callings. He was a dutiful civil servant holding many positions including city councilman, school board and summit county health board. He worked at Crandall Ford Mercury in Coalville, Ut for 37 years as an auto body repairman. He worked at Olympic Park after retirement driving a tour bus. He loved driving and met many people. Jimmie loved the mountains where he spent countless hours hunting and fishing. He will be remembered as a diligent provider, loving husband and father and comedian to the end.
Jimmie is survived by his wife Betty of 50 years, 6 children, 15 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, sisters Mona and June, and brother Blaine. He is preceded in death by father Clifton Gines, mother Francis Ellen Gines, brothers Max and Lee and sister Jeanette.

Funeral services will be held Friday, July 29th at 11:00 am at the Kamas LDS Church. A viewing will be held Thursday July, 28th from 6:00 to 8:00pm at the Kamas LDS church. Friends and family may also call one hour prior to the service. Internment will be at the Francis, Utah cemetery.
