Earl William Hanks

On Monday, September 10, 2012, Earl William Hanks, age 91, died at his home in McKinnon,
Wyoming, after a lengthy illness with his loving family around him. He was born to Reed
Hamilton Sr. and Mary Elisabeth Harris Hanks on May 29, 1921, in Evanston, Wyoming. He
was a sibling to two brothers and five sisters. He went to school in McKinnon and completed
the eighth grade. In 1945, he met the love of his life Velma Arlene Youngberg and they were
married on March 23, 1946, in Green River, Wyoming. Their marriage was solemnized in the
LDS Temple in Logan, Utah, on April 27, 1950. He worked as a carpenter on the Flaming
Gorge Dam, and was foreman for the Union Pacific Railroad.

Earl loved his church and was a counselor in the Bishopric in the LDS church for 8 1/2 years and
a membership clerk in his ward for 7 years. He was also active in the church being a Home
Teacher. His hobbies and interests included ranching, the outdoors, hunting, and fishing. He
lived for and enjoyed being with his family, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great
great grandchildren. He had a great sense of humor and dearly loved his family.

He is survived by his wife Velma Arlene Hanks of McKinnon, Wyoming, and three sons which
include: Larry William and Patty Hanks from McKinnon, Wyoming, Kenneth Eugene and
Bonnie Hanks from Evanston, Wyoming, and Clyde Dean and Michelle Hanks from McKinnon,
Wyoming. He is also survived by two sisters, Ruth Sims of Lyman, Wyoming, Rita Condos
Allred from Vernal, Utah, 12 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren, and 3 great great
grandchildren. He is proceeded in death by his parents, his grandparents, three sisters, two
brothers, and one granddaughter.

Funeral services will be held at the McKinnon LDS Church on Saturday, September 15, 2012,
at 11:00 A.M. The viewing, where family and friends are invited to gather will proceed the
funeral service at 10:00 A.M. at the McKinnon LDS Church. The interment will be in the
Lyman, Wyoming Cemetery at 1:30 P.M., following the funeral service.
