DiAnn Wilde Staples

February 5, 1944 — April 6, 2024

Coalville, Utah

DiAnn Wilde Staples passed away April 6, 2024 at the age of 80 years old. She was born February 5, 1944 in Coalville Utah in a very bad snow storm. She was born to Lloyd O’Driscoll and Mary Edna Ovard Wilde. Before DiAnn was five years old, she had the chicken pox, mumps, measles, her tonsils out and had rheumatic fever. This gave her the will and strength to deal with challenges throughout her life.

DiAnn had two older sisters and one younger sister that she loved. They would roam the streets of Henefer together and play in the pig pen with their dolls. They were very close throughout their lives.

DiAnn attended school in Henefer until the sixth grade, then went to North Summit High School. She met the love of her life William (Billy) Staples at a school dance. They would meet at dances for the next couple of years getting to know one another. Billy asked DiAnn to his Jr. Prom. With a white sport coat and a pink carnation, they danced the night away. It was love. For DiAnn’s 17th birthday, she sluffed school and her and Billy went to Ogden to buy her engagement ring. Billy and DiAnn were married June 30, 1961 in Henefer, Utah. They were later sealed on April 21, 1965 in the Salt Lake Temple.

Together Billy and DiAnn had four wonderful sons. They taught them how to work and play hard. DiAnn worked at the Adkins mink ranch, sold Avon, and was a lunch lady for the North Summit School District for several years. She loved to see the students come through the line and made some really good friends there.

DiAnn is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She has a testimony of Jesus Christ and she lived a life of service. She served in Primary, Cub Scouts, Relief Society and other callings. DiAnn was a very faithful visiting teacher and cared about the ladies she served. DiAnn loved stickers and to read and share thoughts and poems with others. With the help of her sisters Sharon and Pam and her husband Billy she sent out many thoughts throughout the community, especially to those she knew were going through a hard time.

She loved chocolate and made the best fudge for Christmas. She also made a macaroni salad that everyone loved. She said it was the pickle juice that made the salad so good. She would bring it to picnics and especially brought it when we went fencing on Memorial Day weekend.

DiAnn’s greatest love was her family. She was proud of her sons and their families. She enjoyed Sunday visits and especially loved the babies. She adored her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She went to every event she could to support her grandchildren.
