DeLon Nels Rollins passed away October 1, 2023 in Salt Lake City.
DeLon was born in Wylie, Texas to Blanche and Floyd Rollins. He attended Idaho School for the Deaf and Blind when he was 7 years old, but he was more excited when he was allowed to attend public school at the age of 10.
He graduated from Paso Robles High School, attended Blind School in Louisiana, and graduated from Austin Technical College as an Electronic Technician.
He served The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints as a service missionary in both California and Minnesota. In the Austin, Minnesota Ward, he was the ward clerk for many years but jokingly he would say he served for 30 years.
DeLon loved his country music growing up which mainly included Neil Diamond and Eddie Rabbitt, playing it at all times driving his younger siblings crazy.
Later in life, he progressed to more current country music which he enjoyed at all times day and night.
He loved computers since he first learned of their existence in the early 1980’s. At a very early age he taught himself all about computers, both programming and the technical engineering of them. He loved it so much that he would teach his own high school teachers how to use the new-fangled computers of the day.
While in Louisiana, he found the love of cooking, especially Cajun style cuisine, which he continued to experiment with until the end.
DeLon is survived by his mother, Blanche and his siblings, Scott Rollins, Sheila Stevenson, Rhaelene Lowther, Janeal Kelemen, 11 nieces and 13 nephews.
Funeral Services will be 10:00 AM Monday, October 9, 2023 at the Rosedale Utah Ward (1148 West 500 North-Salt Lake City-84116) with a visitation starting at 8:30 AM to 9:45 AM.
Burial will be in Lyman Wyoming City Cemetery at 3:00 PM.
