David Gerrard

January 22, 1925 — July 25, 2011

David Gerrard, 86, passed away at his home, surrounded by his family, July 25, 2011.

He was born Jan. 22, 1925, in Evanston, the son of James and Mary Beatrice (Clark) Gerrard. He married Edna Mae Bateman Oct. 17, 1942, in Evanston.

He served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II. He worked for several years as a carman for the Union Pacific Railroad, and also worked for nine years as a janitor at North Elementary School, and received an honorable retirement.

He was a member of the VFW znd the Carmans Union with the railroad. David enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and being outdoors with his family and friends. He was a member of the LDS Church.

David is survived by his wife, Edna, of Evanston; stepson John Thomas Bateman of West Valley, Utah; sons Vern Allen Gerrard, of Evanston, Randy Dale Gerrard, of Eden, Utah, Clifford Scott Gerrard, of Evanston, and Brian Edward Gerrard, of Evanston; daughters Linda Mae Lamb, of Evanston, Diane Dee Meyers, of Stevensville, Mont., and Dawn Ellice Hawkes, of Kemmerer.

David is also survived by 32 grandchildren, 65 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a brother, Dewain Gerrard, of Green River, and a sister, Beatrice Crompton, of Colorado.

He was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents; a daughter, Mary Lynn; two sons, Rodney David and James Franklin Gerrard; two brothers, John and Emerson Gerrard; three sisters, Elizabeth, Doris Cook, and Clara Ovard; a grandson, Dean Elden Lamb; a son-in-law, Dean Lamb; and a granddaughter, Shannon Stocking.

Graveside services with military honors will be conducted Saturday, July 30, at 2 p.m. at the Evanston Cemetery.
