Colleen Louise Gray Rex
Our loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, passed away Friday, July 20, 2012 at her home in St. George, Utah from pancreatic cancer. She was 78 years old.
Colleen was born May 22, 1934, in Ogden, Utah to Norman and Lottie Gray. She graduated from South Rich High School in 1952 and from LDS Business College in Salt Lake City in 1953. She married her best friend William Sterling Rex on October 1, 1953 in the LDS Salt Lake Temple. They have been married for 58 years. Her greatest love was her family.
Colleen was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many different callings. She served as Primary President and Relief Society President. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, and worked for the Selective Service.
She was very talented. She loved music; singing and playing the piano, organ, guitar and teaching piano lessons. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, painting, puzzles, and cards.
In 2001 Sterling and Colleen started spending their winters in St. George. They enjoyed being able to attend concerts and performances. Family members enjoyed the warmer winters and spent many enjoyable times together.
Colleen is survived by her husband William Sterling, three daughters, Marlene (Steven) Wilson of Randolph, Darlene (Bryan) Davis of Lindon, Janalene (Scott) Houle of Orem, and two sons, William Eugene of St. George, and Sterling Jadene of Randolph, 13 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother Billie Mac Gray, and two sisters Barbara Hagan, and Jacqueline Kennedy, and one grandson, Hayden Sterling Rex.
Funeral Services will be held Thursday, July 26, 2012 at 12:00 noon at the Randolph Chapel. A viewing will be held Wednesday, July 25, from 6-8 pm at the Randolph Chapel and also from 10:30 to 11:45 am prior to the service.
Interment will follow at the Randolph City Cemetery under the direction of Crandall Funeral Home.
