Alice LaDean Ellis Black
LaDean was born on November 11, 1928 to George Otto and Alice Johnson Ellis in Moab, Utah. LaDean was the third of five siblings. Bert, Duane, Norma, Ramon and Johnny Stocks. Bert, Duane and Norma and her parents all preceded her in death.
LaDean attended Grand County Schools until she graduated in 1947. LaDean married Troy Dix Black from Blanding, Utah May 24th 1948, in Moab, UT. Their marriage was later solominized in 1960 in the Manti, Utah LDS Temple.
Troy and LaDean have two children. TroyDean (Colleen) Black of Denver, CO and Allison (Spencer) Snow of Mountain View, WY. Mom and Dad shared seven grandchildren. Jessica (Brad) Sharp, Daryn (Karen) Black, Deana (Alex) Wright, Richard (Jessica) Black, Kelsey (Josh) Wallin, Kody Snow, KimberLee Snow and 14 Great Grandchildren.
LaDean loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them. Mom loved entertaining company in her home making meals, playing cards and other games. She loved being a grandma and took great pride in all of her grandchildren and loved them unconditionally. Mom enjoyed being a homemaker, sewing, yard sales, painting, puzzles, making friends and collecting many things. Mom loved to have friends and family stop in to visit and to go on trips.
Mom was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She served in the Primary organization as well as the Relief Society Presidency for many, many years. She was also a member of the Daughter of the Utah Pioneers.
She will be missed for her sense of humor, caring and giving to her family and friends.
LaDean was preceded in death by her parents, George Otto Ellis, Alice and John Stocks. Her siblings, Bert Ellis, Duane Ellis and Norma Wyatt and her husband Troy Dix Black who passed away in 2006.
Graveside services will be held at the Sunset Cemetery 2651 Spanish Valley Dr, Moab, UT Friday, January 8, 2021 beginning at 12:00 Noon.
